I bought this machine based on cost. I have a small plumbing business and wanted something with an automatic oiler and full tool carriage.
The good....its powerful and chews right through 2 inch steel pipe and it operates just like a Rigid brand tool. Once you have this behemoth out of the truck moving it with no oil in the reservoir is fairly easy as long as the ground is hard and reasonably level.

The bad...its made in China (sorry USA!). I hate buying foreign, but this tool is half the cost and money talks, but almost twice the weight as the aluminum Rigid 300C, so the cost difference is obvious for that reason alone.

You can't move the machine in a folded position with oil in the reservoir or it will spill. The Rigid model comes with something that allegedly covers the oil chamber so it can be transported while filled with oil, I don't know if it actually works, but they sell a "lid" for the oil chamber.

To drain the oil from the machine you need to remove a drain plug, which would make a mess. So I added my own little drain valve as its just a 1/2 inch IPS drain hole.

The Wheels are crap and didn't stay together very long, granted I dragged it through some really rough stuff, but nothing that should have caused them to separate from the wheel hub bearings, again nothing a few screws and fender washer couldn't fix, but I am looking around for some new wheels that will stand up to the abuse a little better.

The oil reservoir chamber occasionally needs to be cleaned and you have to remove one side of the tool carriage to get the final screen out to access the oil sump and filter. I find I need to do this about every 30 hours of operation, which is typical.

Although I have a few complaints, over all the I LOVE the machine and so do my employee's compared to the old Rigid 700 machine we were using. The price and self oiling feature sold me on this machine and so far I have no real regrets as I have owned this now for several months and use it a couple of times a week. I just wish the wheels were a little beefier and they gave you some better literature with the machine as it come with pretty much no paperwork about maintenance or parts breakdowns. Luckily being so close to a Rigid brand machine, all there documents for the 300 c seem to work with the SDT 300 C.

In closing its a great machine for medium duty use like my 4 man plumbing and gas company, if you are looking to use this machine every day for large diameter pipes you might want to splurge for the rigid as it is no doubt a better built machine, but at a steep cost.
