I've used many Kohler sinks and faucets. This Mayfield sink is the second one of this model I have used, it's for another small kitchen, and by small I mean 75 sq ft. The reasons I like this sink are:

-Large sink that fits in a small kitchen 24 inch wide Ikea sink cabinet.
-White always looks good.
-Similar to the price of a stainless steel sink, even allowing for the Kohler K-6003-ST Mayfield Bottom Basin Rack, which I think is essential. I used to think that they were gimmicks, but no more.
-Has a warranty against chipping, cracking, and burning, not transferable though.
-Should last for ever provided a bottom basin rack is used and if reasonable care is taken with cleaning (like a Le Creuset cast iron oven, the same rules apply). It will outlast an Ikea Domsjo drop in ceramic sink.

I am using Ikea Akurum cabinets to minimise wasted storage space, and the Ikea sink base cabinet is 24 inches wide. I have the Ikea cabinet and the KOHLER K-5964-1-0 Mayfield Sink and it will fit without cutting the cabinet frame at all. The tightest dimension is the width. With 3/4 inch plywood covering the cabinetry, and 3/4 inch laminate on top, for a total of 1-1/2 inches, there is 1/4 inch space on each side of the sink at the top edge of the sink cabinet. A side benefit is that the weight of the sink is bearing down over the sink cabinet side walls. The main reason this fits is because unlike a stainless steel sink there are no clips required along the edges.

I'm not using the supplied cut out template, instead I usually make one such that the cut out is as small as possible to minimize the loss in counter strength due to the large cut out hole, and then in addition to the usual edge caulking I put a large caulking "dam" further in from the edge as well. In practice this means the cut out is 1 1/4 inches inside the outline of the sink with 2 notches on the front edge-if you take a look at the sink underside you will see why.

As far as the faucet I'm planning to use the Moen 7175 Level One-Handle High Arc Pullout Kitchen Faucet, chrome version as it appears excellent value, and fewer problems reported than Kohler. The sink which has one faucet hole costs more but this is offset by the faucet not needing an accessory plate.

PS: The sink weighs 79 lbs so it will come by freight, not UPS. I recommend buying though Amazon as I was pleased with the price and how they resolved a delivery problem, likewise CEVA and TP freight lines -the sink arrived in pristine condition delivered to my door.

Update: the rim was not completely flat I estimate with 3 corners touching the flat counter the 4th corner had a gap of 1/8 inch -I fixed this with caulking. The sink looks great, and even with an Insinkerator Evolution Pro Essential garbage disposal there is still room for storing the usual cleaning supplies in the 24 inch Ikea cabinet. It helps if the shut off valves and drain connection are grouped on the left or right half of the rear wall versus in the center.
