Add that to its permanently anti-microbial properties and you have a great material for use in laboratories, pharmacies, healthcare facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and even packaging and postal areas. The mats' exceptional comfort comes from its micro-pure sponge base. This unique Nitrile rubber composite is specifically designed for exceptional resilience and long life, and also offers permanent anti-microbial properties. Tile-Top AM is a standard 1/2" thick and ideal for any dry area where overall comfort and productivity are important. Choose anti-microbial for the health of your employees and your facility! I bought two of these, one for in front of the sink/counter area and one for in front of the stove. They are awesome and cushy. I cook in my bare feet all of the time, and these guys save my feet and knees from a world of pain. The mats are easy to clean; wet spills don't absorb, and dry spills sweep off easily. As an added bonus my cats are uninterested in them. I attribute this to the vinyl, but am thankful b/c they don't tend to lay on it like the other kitchen mats I have purchased.
