I used this for a kitchen backsplash installation. This review is for the 6x2 inch size. I used the smaller 1x2 inch stone for filler in some unique spaces. This sentence will probably be erased or modified, but unfortunately Oracle stone deals primarily on eBay, which is the only place you can see their full selection of stone (not even their website, oddly, shows what they have entirely).

Product samples arrive well packaged, and smaller quantities I'm told are typically shipped the same way - in heavily padded boxes. Larger orders, like mine, come with less protection on a pallet. But...should any break, the company will work with you to resolve the issue. Or, they did with me at least.

As some have stated, the stone is lighter than photographed. if you seal the stone with a natural sealer (as I did), it will appear lighter. Use a color enhancing sealer to achieve a look like the photo. To test whether or not color enhancing is what you want, splash your stone with water and observe... if you like it, let it dry completely and seal with a color enhancing sealer.

The companies stock photos do not do this stone any justice. Stock photos give the stone a relatively uniform throughout non-varying look, with subtle lines that differ across stones. From 10 ft or more, that is the look you will achieve - however the closer you get, the more variance in depth and even occasional crystal formations that appear. This variance is what I enjoy most about this stone. Some crystalline formations were clear, some greenish, turquoise blue, etc.. I ordered about 35 sq ft of the larger 2x6 bricks (those have mesh backing as well), so depending on the quantity you order, you may have more or less variance. Luck of the draw.

Because the very unique stones may not always be where you want them to be fixed to the mesh backing...it's very easy to take a razor to the back to cut out the individual stones and move them to where you like. This is also useful for removing broken stones. OF my 35 sq ft, I had 15 broken stones. Most you couldn't tell if they were to be installed and some even could have provided a unique look, but regardless - Oracle stone was great at addressing this issue. Also, since you'll likely be cutting the stones for corners or outlets, shifting around any partially broken tiles that could be cut anyway is effective.

Other observations: easy to cut using the inexpensive Amazon-sold SKIL 3540-02 4.2-Amp 7-Inch Wet Tile Saw. The tile can chip as you near the end of a cut, but 90% of the time it chipped in my favor. Once I learned how the saw and stone behaved though, I began cutting a little from one direction (just enough to cut into all edges) then would finish the cut from the other direction.

Sealing the stone. For natural porous stone like this, many sites will recommend sealing it before installing so that the mortar doesn't permanently bond to the stone.Had I known that before the install, I would've cautiously done that. I didn't - I sprayed on sealer after install instead. During the install, there were some small spots of dried mortar I easily wiped while installing. Water was all I needed to remove it. Even after a few hours...and on one spot a few weeks where mortar had dried and been sealed over, I had absolutely no problem simply removing with water. Glad I didn't seal off the wall because on would've been difficult.

One other item to think about is depth. These (the 6x2 tiles) are deep. depth varies to almost 3/4 of an inch in some areas. You will need spacers for your outlets, best purchased from your local home improvement store. Regarding outlet covers themselves - I personally feel brushed stainless steel looks the best, and is very cost effective from your local home improvement store.
