I've wanted one of these locks for a very long time and after a recent break in I finally pulled the trigger on hardening the house. This is one bad ass lock. It weighs 2 pounds. Everything is super heavy duty. Captive key means it's like a standard deadbolt for most of the time. But if you leave the premises, you can pull the turn/handle out to make it a double sided deadbolt. By most building codes you can't use double sided deadbolts on most doors in case there is a fire people need to be able to get out without having to have a key. But this just makes it easy for a thief to bust out a pane of glass, reach in and turn the lock.

With this lock, if you are not home, you pull the handle out and now you have a double sided deadbolt that is almost impossible to open without the key. And speaking of which, this is the pick proof, bump proof, multilock key they are famous for. Really the best feature of the lock. It feels like I'm using a precision piece of equipment every time I open the door.

I also love the retaining function of the throw bolt as well. It has two ball bearings that extend out when the bolt is in the locked position and lock into the special striker plate that comes with the lock. This keeps a pry bar from just spreading the door from the jam and making easy entry. Great feature.

It was a bit of work to install. It has special features that make it harder than just your run of the mill lock, but it's not beyond what most handy people can do. If you are not comfortable with a wood chisel, boring bits or driving long screws into the frame, best to hire a professional to install it for you.

It's an outrageously expensive lock, but I sleep and travel a lot better knowing it's on the main door to the house. As soon as I can afford... :-), I'll be putting another on the garage door.
