It is the premier non-marking rubber part due to its supple, soft and excellent flexibility while under stress. I will be using this for a custom fan filter gasket seal for my 3D printer enclosure. Don't plan on using it for a homemade slingshot as, IMO, it is best used for compression applications.
Comparison to a rubber band:
- Slightly harder than a thick rubber band
- Its surface is not porous like the surface of a rubber band when viewed up close
- It gives off the same light odor which is to be expected, but does not impart the smell to your fingers when handled.
Cons:
- It is not shiny & clean like the photo shows.
- It has minor imperfections such as scratches & a few minor raised bumps (0.03" high by .09" round).
Pros:
- Overall thickness is uniform. I purchased the 1/16" x 24" 12" size.
- It will work out great for a custom gasket. Unsure about the odor aspect at 35-40 degrees Celsius.
- Easy to precisely cut with a razor or X-Acto knife.
