This is an amazing valve; I'd put one in every shower if I could. When you first install it, you adjust the two extremes -- one for the coldest shower you'll ever take, and one for the hottest. You quickly learn what valve position gives you the temperature you want. After that, it's a matter of putting the valve lever in that position and turning on the water. Very quickly, the temperature comes up to the temperature you like and never wavers, even if your hot water supply is a little flaky.

Dinged one star because the valve is hella expensive. And Kohler gouges you on the trim piece and the handle. Next bathroom I renovate, I'm going to see if someone else makes a thermostatic valve at a more reasonable price.
