Product Description
Our 12 oz canvas tarps have rust resistant brass grommets at corners and every 24". These tarps are water, mildew, and rot resistant. These tarps would be great as an agricultural, industrial, or construction cover. They also work well for painters to protect floors or other items from splatters or spills. These specific canvas tarps are great because they are water resistant unlike some other canvas tarps.30 Ft. x 30 Ft. Brown 12 Oz. Canvas Tarp Review
Bought these to put onto a frame I made to shade our horse stalls. The cheap vinyl tarps don't seem to last in the wind we get, typically three months is about all we get. I thought that some canvas tarps might hold up better. And then I received these.
First thing I noticed is that for the 10' x 12' I ordered, the tarps were made from a patchwork of three pieces. Basically, the full size was pieced together from scrap pieces.
Second thing I noticed was that the grommets were not equally spaced along each set of parallel sides. Heck, they even marked out where to put the grommets with a chalk and still got it wrong.
And then came time to install them onto the shade frames. I achieve this by spreading it over the frame, and the sides hang over the front and back of the frame about three inches either side. I then take a piece of 1/4" cotton rope with a turnbuckle attached at one end. I connect the rope from the back, and pull to the front, pull taught and take up any extra slack with the turnbuckle.
I didn't even get to tightening the turnbuckle before the grommets were pulling out and in one case, the grommet ripped a double thickness of canvas about two inches. If I can't even begin to pull this snug over my frame, how is this even supposed to hold up to the wind? Even the vinyl ones at half the price held up better than this.
The final insult was that I was granted a return, but would have to pay return shipping for a product that I wouldn't have bought had I known was this poor in quality. Not feeling like paying another $20ish, I'll probably just keep the dang things and use them to keep my manure pile dry. At least I think they can handle that.
